A fall storm hit Lake Michigan this past weekend with gale force winds and dangerous waves. The wind was from the North Northeast so is ranmostly straight down the lake and pushed the waves onto the Eastern shore. This brought surfers and windsurfers braving the wind and the 55F/12C water and air temps with wind gusts exceeding 30mph/48kph.
Here are a few views of the waves, a lighthouse, the city backdrop, and a single windsurfer. All shots along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Milwaukee, WI.
The lighthouse beacon is about 60ft/18m above the water level. For reference, the windsufer was a short distance away while the far shore is 3-5 miles away. On a special note, in the last photo, you may notice a large dark red building on the right side of the photo and a golden topped church steeple towards the middle. The first building is the high school my wife and I attended and graduated from in June 1969. The gold steeple is on the church where we were married in December 1972.
All shots full width, cropped only for height and proper framing.
