Thanks much for the ID. Think I should have known since it has those two funny little appendages (antennae) on it's face. Very cool to know what it is. Sure does manage to look mosquitoish!It is actually a Bee Fly: Thevenetimyia speciosa is a species of bee flies, insects in the family Bombyliidae
Thanks for the link. Here in AZ a book was written on Dragonflies & Damsels in AZ and Sonora and that same author is gonna do a book on Beeflies here. I can hardly wait, tho I don't think he started yet.I have a guidebook to Minnesota Bee Flies (believe it or not!). There are a LOT of different Bee Flies and they are all important pollinators. They feed on the nectar and then transport pollen on their legs and bodies. Here is a link to more than you would ever want to know!
