this was a snatch and shoot as the ducks cared nothing about posing, composition etc

Shows the birds in habitat well. I like the female in the foreground and the blurry showy male in the background. I'd think about cropping a little more off the top as that
to me doesn't add a lot to the story.

I agree with Icarus....a little off the top might make it slightly better. But in any case, it is a gorgeous image! I desperately want to find a good place to photograph Wood Ducks.

I don't know if you are familiar with ebird, but that is a good way to locate a specific species. You can also get ebird rare bird alerts for your state so you
know what's around.

I was not aware of eBird....but I’m going to research it now!
