Lens clean

I used canned air first, then if needed, Formula MC. A couple of drops on a cotton cloth, never apply any liquid directly to the lens. When done, I blow off again. For the Breakthrough filters, at their recommendation, I use Eclipse.

Out in the field I use a dry micro-fiber cloth perhaps with a bit of moisture from my breath, that's almost always sufficient. Back home I use a micro-fiber cloth moistened (not wet) with a 2/1 water/vinegar mix and then dry with another micro-fiber cloth.

I like to use a rocket blower or a lens brush then Lens Clens with lens cleaning tissues. I worry about using a microfiber cloth because particles can become embedded in the cloth.

Rocket blower, lends wipe and microfibre cloth, in that order. For really stubborn dirt I also have a lens pen but that is very definately a last resort.

Microfibre cloths get washed if there's any hint of ingrained dirt.

I do not use readily available microfibre cloths as they shed some of the microfibres from the cloth when wiped on glass in my experience.

Rocket blower for starters, then lens cleaning cloth like used for eye glasses but made for cleaning lenses, if needed a lens cleaning towelette, then rocket blower.
Rocket blower before each outing.
Wash the lens cleaning cloth regularly to remove dirt, dust, skin particles, skin moisture etc.

I also check with a loupe from VisibleDust https://visibledust.com/.
This very bad shot is of the front of my 500mm lens that to the eye looks clean, the rocket blower has been used!
It is like a dark night sky, points of light everywhere.

I usually hit it with a rocket blower first, then lens wipes (Zeiss or Nikon). However, I've also pressed my T-Shirt into service a time or two in a pinch :) (And no, it's not a great idea)
Steve I like the fact that you admitted to doing what most of us have all done at least once, the t-shirt wipe!

I clean the camera plus lens every two months.
Learned about the method in this video..

Thanks. It’s good to know there’s someone as ignorant as that guy that intentionally gets stung by insects and then publishes it worldwide. I barely made past the 1:20 minute mark. If there was a socially redeeming finale... well, if you stuck it out, better you than me.

Also, rocket blower, the brush end of the Lenspen, Zeiss wipes. I've got about 20 or so microfiber cloths. Anytime I use one, it goes into the next wash and rotate a different one. I’ve tossed a couple already; they went through a lot of cycles.

I would keep still and savour the moment, and perhaps , just maybe, the moment would last until my lens cleared up and I could capture the moment....
cheers,
Alex

Rocket blower, Zeiss Lens Wipes (great for my glasses and EVF), LensPen brush (if needed). I don't like to use microfiber outside- but will use them inside.

We have a photographer over here ;) by the name of mike brown who released a video where he was pushing a table fork at the glass of one of his lenses to prove that they are not as fragile as everyone thinks. I wouldn't recommend that but i think as long as you flick all the sharp grit off with a soft brush the lens will be fine along as you clean it with something that is soft and clean.
