With General shooting, landscape, buildings portraits and the small budget as your listed criteria then I would highly recommend the 24-120 f4 VR.Thankyou gary .iam on a small budget what i want to do is to able to general shooting such the usual Landscape Buildings portraits etc but want to keep weight down
Depends on the subject. My 24-120 f4 is always with me.
This is a very frequent comment from folks who visit European cities and is totally understandable. The reason that I call attention to it is that I found 24mm to generally be wide enough for my shooting style when I was in many of the cathedrals, but I frequently wanted fast glass (faster than f/2.8) for night shots and a macro for many of the details in the buildings. In short, everybody has different shooting styles and needs and what works for one person may or may not work for somebody else. I think that one of the best suggestions is if you have a catalog program like Lightroom, to look at what lenses and apertures you gravitated to in your past shooting. This might tell you if you would be better off with something like a 24-120 or a 16-35 as your everyday carry.I think a lot depends on what type of travel and to where. On a recent European river cruise I took my 24-70 and a 70-300. I only used the 70-300 a few times but wished many times that I had something wider than 24mm. So many beautiful immense cathedrals!
You have some good choices, and that is the best way to start! Regardless of what lens you pick, I hope you have safe travels and a wonderful trip.Thankyou Ken the forum has given me something to think about tony
My walking around and travel lens is the Nikon 18-300 on a D7500... it I usually have the 35/1.8 in the bag for evening or low weight/light situations. The super tele generally only goes along if I think it will be needed.Gentlemen and Ladies enquiring as to what lens would you take eg 24-70 Etc
