6.35am and the Nkoveni Leopardess mother with her two 8 mth old cubs.
Mum displayed all the boundless energy of her playful cubs on this morning and was such a joy to see all 3 running, stalking and playing for over 90 mins.

Excellent!

Whauw!! These shots are absolutely amazing. And they also lead to a question because there is something I have been wondering about for quite some time: How do manage to get so low when photographing big cats and other big potentionally dangerous animals? Do you just take a chance and get down flat on the ground or is there some other technique that you use?

Beautiful series Marc👍👍👍👍

Marc I love it when people get the Leopard names and I can read their stories. I felt some connection when I first saw your post and I was out, so now back home I looked her up and realized we saw her first successful offspring when we visited in 2022. It was a brief siting, our last of the trip before we headed out. Tough conditions as she was moving through the bush but did give us one or two glances.
I fully agree on them being cat like and it's so great to watch mom tumble with their little ones.

Plaque Rock 3:3 Female

The first surviving offspring of the Nkoveni Female, the Plaque Rock Female was essentially ceded territory by her mother, who moved east, establishing territory in MalaMala.
She is still being seen in this area today, in northeastern Sparta.
She is a young playful female full of life’s zest that has been hanging around the Sand River and Londolozi camps recently.
With a similar spot pattern to that of both the Nkuwa Female and the Piccadilly Young Female, there are now three young newly established females that look similar.

We positioned our vehicle in a gully that sat much lower offering us this eye level POV.
