Just a thought, got it from Amazon UK for £35 including holder

When I used my garage I put a scoop in at one end ..painted the walls, floor and boarded the roof . put a curtain over the doors a nice setee for people to sit and some proper umbrellas. That thing is usless as the light is from above and you will get terrible shadows ..eyes nose chin, You need a side door to let customers in,

Thank you for your reply. I actually have no intention to turn my garage into a studio type setup it was just a thought. Keeping the cars in the garage, apart from the security it offers with alarmed doors, it also stops the frost getting onto the cars windows this time of year.Tthere is a side door not shown in the pictures, If I was not already retired and looking for a business project to start up then yes you have made some good points.

I also thought that you were considering using the garage as a studio as in your first post you said:

Pistnbroke is right - totally unsuitable for any kind of studio work - even casual family stuff. Garages are generally unsuitable for studios due to the low ceilings preventing positionig lights above head height and are on the short side forcing you to use shorter lenses that are not optimal for shooting people due to the distortion shorter lenses give.

Sorry to mislead

this is the area behind those photos I posted. Not only got the height but also that dividing wooden wall on the right could be taken down to double the width. So space and height no problems. Actually an ideal place to convert into a studio with a little bit of work. Behind this shot is the garage I showed above. The whole area could be made into 46ft b y 19ft ( or half the length) leaving the front garage part as is. there also is already a dividing door between front and back if necessary
So it is large enough and tall enough just needs a bit of reconstruction which isn't too big a job and kitting out..

Yep - 46x19 feet would be OK and the height looks OK too. A light and softbox could need around 12 feet for some lighting set-ups and your first pictures did not have anything for scale.

For what it is worth, my 2 go to lenses for portraits on a full frame camera are an 85mm f1.8 and an 80-200 f2.8.

Thank you for your post. this would make a good selling point not that I intend to after the amount of work I have done to the house after having bought it from a so called cowboy builder that didn't have a clue. you name it and I had to fix it properly ,cost several thousands £ to put it all right. was it worth it ? well it has doubled in value in trhe 6 years we have lived hereView attachment 12502

Not seen a double garage with dual ceiling heights on a reletively new build. Did you buy off plan and specify the dual height? Presume you had a motorhome or similar.

the previous owner had a motorhome so he made one garage bigger in width. When I bought the place it had huge garage wooden doors . They were a damn nuisance catching the wind and slamming shut. So I had a firm in to replace with those you see now. One of the restrictions on the area is no commercial vehicles/ camper vans on drives allowed and all houses had to be same colour. Looks dead posh down our cal de sac but in actual fact we have fantastic neighbours could not ask for better. There is a story about us getting this place but I am sure you don't want to know as this is a photographic site not a chat room
