Lightroom CC Folders & NAS

Hi everyone, I have what I suspect is an import configuration issue in Lightroom Classic.

I recently upgraded my storage and purchased a NAS, a Synology DS920+ device. My exisiting images ~50k of files are for their first time consolidated together (in their respective sub-directories/folders) and stored on the NAS. The NAS works well in its RAID configuration. I use Lightroom Classic as my management system to access and process files.

I note however that Lightroom sees the NAS both as a mapped drive (\\CM-NAS\CM-NAS_Folders\), as well as a Windows assigned drive (CM-NAS_Folders N: ). In other words, the NAS appears as 2 logical locations in Lightroom, albeit for one physical storage system. Initially I addressed this via show parent folder and then update folder location. All appeared to work okay with everything then displaying and accessible from a single point within the Library folder structure.

Now when importing new files, they appear in the alternate mapped area and this requires manual intervention to fix on each import session.

My question, how do I import new files without having to undertake the additional steps to consolidate them within the exisiting structure?

Hope this is clear enough to understand. As you may guess, I am not very IT proficient. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

maybe you should take a step back and deal with the underlying issue of the NAS showing up twice in File Explorer. I am not an expert on Synology systems, but my initial assumption is that your NAS presents itself via multiple network protocols like CIFS/SMB and uPNP. Unless you need those multiple protocols, I suggest disabling all but one of them. If you want to tackle it only from the LR side, the Lightroom Queen is definitely your best bet.

Thank you for this information. I will pursue Lightroom Queen as you and Dan suggest. My IT knowledge is basic and I do not wish to damage what is otherwise a working system. Thanks again!
