Lock Focus Area?

On the Z8, the Joystick is precariously close to the AF-On button that I use for Back Button Focus. I am often touching the toggle when trying to focus, resulting in the focus area moving. I slowed down the speed on the movement of the focus area but I'd like to be able lock the focus area so it doesn't move. Has anyone had this problem and do you have a solution?

There is a lock function but not sure if you can lock the joystick or only the dials. My Z 8 is with Nikon
