Thank you very much for all your comments they are much appreciated. These long-eared owls are not resident to my area, they are a northern species that overwinters in the area. These were taken within the Toronto city limits at a well know urban park that is renowned for its raptor population due to a very high density of rodents. There is an area in the park where the owls roost and I have on occasion counted more than a dozen of these owls roosting in a single tree, it's quite the sight. I typically do not photograph this species, there are nocturnal hunters that start their flights shortly after sundown so the photographic window is typically no more than 15-20 minutes at most but I had an opportunity to get out at that time and I was glad that I did. :D
