Looking for recommendation for a good travel voltage converter.....

Leaving for Kenya soon, looking to get a better/newer voltage converter to power those few items I might have only rated for 120V. I have one I've used in the past with MIBOTE name brand, but thinking maybe something better has come along in the six years or so I have had this one. Thx.

Have a GREAT trip! Kenya is one of our favorite destinations!

We have not had to take a converter in years. Laptops, hair dryers, even curling irons work with either 120/240. Some you adjust the setting, others have a built in converter. Check. It would be nice if you don't need to haul one more thing around..... LOL!

I just take a couple of electrical outlet plug adapters, along with a multi plug splitter (similar to this: Multi Plug Outlet Splitter with USB) and let the devices handle any voltage conversion on their own.

Well, thanks for making me rethink this. For years, it always really been about my waterpik, could never find 240v compatible. Well, new products are out there now, can ditch the converter, and even the power strips as there is and easier way to deal with multiple outlets.... Thanks....I'll be in Entim camp for a while with David Lloyd.

We have the laptop, his charger, my 2 chargers, phones, etc. We still take a power strip for hubby and I to use. Remember that large 3 prong plugs often impede the outlet next to it either in the wall, a plug with multiple outlets or on a power strip!!!!!! We plan on having one wall outlet.....but that may only give us room to plug in one power strip or device.... AND take several plug adapters so if one gets left behind you have a back up. They are light - but necessary.

BTW - hubby likes his powered toothbrush....but manages with an old fashioned manual one for the length of the trip.............soooooo much easier and lighter to pack. You're not going to be kissing the lions......:ROFLMAO:

I have saved a lot of empty travel containers over the years. I only take enough shampoo, toothpaste, etc for the trip plus 2-3 days extra in case of delays. I even have small little plastic vials I can put just a bit of makeup in! Same with medications.....which we carry on us during travel there and back. Quick dry tops that can get washed out in the sink.....and only a few! One fleece for brisk mornings/evenings and a wind breaker.

Have a great trip! Wish I were joining you!

The power strip thing was giving me issues, until I thought why do I really need it at all. Instead, taking a couple of these able Matters Splitters , they will be lighter than a strip I should think, and there is not much that could fail. And yes, I like my electric toothbrush too, will likely leave it behind, its heavy.

Those cable splitters look nice! We are going to Europe in December......and those would help lighten our load! LOL!

My camera gear doesn't get lighter (since I don't want to leave things behind)....but our checked bags do! LOL!

I only use a plug adapter for a power strip and then plug everything into the strip. My laptops and cell phone and camera battery chargers and even my backup hair dryer can all work on 220V. The only device to give me grief was the switchable hair dryer and so I bought 220V only ones while overseas and they have been working perfectly for more than 20 years.
