Came upon a Luna Moth (Actias luna) late yesterday afternoon, sporting its impressive male antennae, prominent eye spots and long twisted tails, which are thought to confuse the echolocation mechanisms of predatory bats. Luna moths are born with only a vestigial mouth and never eats or drinks during its short ~7-10 day life span; sex is the only thing on their minds!
