I'm planning to replace my Imac 2019 with a Mac Mini M4 pro (out now) or a Mac Studio M4 (out between April and June). Is the Mac mini M4 pro good enough for LRC and PS. Have a Z8 and it takes time to process the files.
I have been very happy running LRC and PS on a 2022 Mac Studio with an M1 Max chip and 32 GB memory, so would expect anything with an M4 chip and adequate memory to work well.
Good analysis by Thom but he ignores data I/O and say to use only internal drives. For those using NAS with RAID for data security or to allow multiple computers to access the image or video files the port speeds provided is very important and not something that can be upgraded later by the user.
The primary limitation of the new Mini is the max RAM of 64GB. With the Studio computers and the new MINI one gains a 10GB Ethernet which is great for a computer to NAS connection. In your position I would wait and buy the new Mini. The Studio computers are grossly, even more than has been true for Apple computers.
It's time to get to know the ports on your Mac, iPhone and iPad. Thunderbolt, Lightning, USB-C and the rest: what is each one called and what does it do?
