Magnolia Blossom

This beauty was blooming in my front yard. Usually we get a freeze or heavy frost before these fully bloom out. This year the weather has been perfect for them to bloom in their full glory.

I like it.
It is a very delicate shot, I like the chromatic aspect of the scene and that the darker branches seem to surround the magnolia, highlighting it. Even the management of the lights seems perfect to me. Whites are full of detail without being burnt. A really great job.

Luck played a big part. I captured this standing on my front porch looking up into the blossoms. I used a fill flash to illuminate the white flowers so they wouldn't be just a dark mass against the bright sky.
