I'm looking for a strap to use with the Promedia Gear QDP1 quick disconnect connector. I'm using a PMG replacement foot on my Z 600mm 6.3, and I would like to stick to the same brand for both halves of the quick disconnect connection, the reason being the few reports of loose QD connections. I know there is supposed to be a standard, but apparently, from what I've read, some QDP sockets or plugs are not quite the same as others, and at times this has resulted in camera/lens falling to the ground.

The QDP1 can utilize different straps. I've been looking at the magpul line of straps which come without connectors and which could be utilized by the PMG QDP1. The Magpul MS1 looks like a good strap, and Amazon has it at a good price ($31) with discount. Apparently, there are two versions: with or without shoulder padding. The padded variety is quite a bit more expensive on Amazon ($51 for ranger green).

Has anyone used the MagPul MS1 strap? I've seen others on this forum mention the MS4 which comes with its own QD connector, but I'd like to stay with PMG for the QD connector.

I believe the only difference between the Magpul MS1, MS3 and MS4 is the attachment hardware configuration. All of them are good to go (y). Mine is run between an MS1 and MS4 configuration, depending on whether I want single or two point. Padded straps will provide more comfort, but usually at the expense of overall adjustability.

I have two of the Magpul MS4 slings. I like the idea of being able to go with one or two connection points. This enables me to switch the slings between my cameras and my rifles. Although to be honest, they spend most of their time attached to my big glass using the one connection point configuration.

As far as I know Magpul pioneered the QD system. I use the Magpul MS4 with a Magpul STEEL socket.

I would avoid aluminum QD sockets, anodizing isn't thick enough to prevent distortion of the soft aluminum underneath.

The PXLN3 foot looks like the QD socket is a different material but double check with a magnet as the manufacture says it's T6061 Aluminum.

This is why I went for Kirk brackets/plates - I could use one of my QD rifle slings on the camera or lens.

Thanks for the suggestion about verifying that the QD socket is steel in the Pro media gear foot. It is. Strong attraction to the QD socket. Rest of the foot is has no attraction so it must be aluminum. I like that the Promedia Gear has no quick disconnect push button like the Nikon and kirk.

Thanks for the feedback. The QD System puts the load on 4 small steel balls, not much surface area. I think many of the problems are due to aluminum sockets.

Yes I have used the Magpul MS1 straps (both standard and light version). They are a good quality, reliable brand. I have a few on my rifles , as well as for photo gear. They have never failed me. That said, the most important piece when using any QD system is choosing a high quality QD connector. Often these straps do not come with the QD connectors, which are sold separately. I would recommend either the Magpul or BCM brand of QD connectors with D style rings. I have never had one fail, and carry some fairly heavy gear . I highly recommend these : https://bravocompanyusa.com/bcm-quick-detach-sling-swivel-heavy-duty-design/
The best part about this connector design is the recessed button design, preventing accidental releases
