I’ve never seen one either. Looked ‘em up. Widespread in Western Europe. Striking color!

Quite a common bird over here in England. The make is more colourful than the female. Very nice bird.
I saw and heard my first one on Stewart Island off the south end of New Zealand's South Island.

The background is beautiful, I do think the bird is a bit soft. Funny how this is an exotic looking bird to some but common for others. Doesn't detract from it's beauty though.
