We came across this male Lion who was relaxing in the mid morning sun and switched off our vehicle to observe him and take a few pictures.
Something attracted his attention and it was amazing to see the change to a very focused predator.

Hi Gavin. Nice shots, particularly the last. Hard to tell so close but this was Mara? Possibly TZ but my bet is Mara. From the first shot he looks like he had a good meal but I can’t see the stomach so may be wrong. I recon another lion is around. Ears up and lions do a very good intense stare for the camera. 90% of the time they’re flat out snoring with their paws in the air so you’re lucky he found something interesting (that wasn’t you taking a walk).

Yes it was the Mara, and earlier on we did see him with a lioness which he was following, but she had disappeared when I took these pictures,
