This odd flying critter shows up occasionally in our gardens. At first I thought it was a hummingbird and then possibly a bizarre bumblebee… Neither. It’s actually a Clearwing Sphinx Moth. And if you grow tomatoes 🍅 it’s bad news… Those giant green thumb thick caterpillars that devour your leaves turn into these entertaining fliers…..so sez‘ the internet gurus…😅

beautiful photo. We see them here sometimes too. I am always intrigued with mimic creatures. I find their camouflage looking like something either not good to eat, deadly, or, in this case, something almost impossible to catch.
