I believe most of those private game reserves set prices for European and North American folks. Even for folks earning US$ the prices are often quite steep at up to $1000 per day per person, and I bet sometimes even more. Now think about the South African where the Rand is at a 16:1 disadvantage against US$. A local would have to be very well heeled to afford those prices. Some resorts may charge less for locals, I'm not sure.

Having said that, if anyone can afford such a visit, it's generally absolutely worth it. Those resorts make a living from catering for and pampering the tourist, so the experience is usually top notch.

While I’m sure you are correct.... I’m not really the pampered kinda guy... I relate more with the help then the guests ....lol. Now having said that would it be nice, sure but I always go for the hyatt place versus the hyatt regency.. maybe why I’m single... bwhahaha.

Beautiful photos Callie. Personally, I don’t think you need a $1000 per day hide. Your photos are awesome and prove that it is not the hide but the skills of the photographer!!

Lol, I’m with you on this Gordon - especially the part about identifying with the staff rather than the guests. I always tidy up my hotel room and make the bed!!
