The Dollar Lake fire took place the summer of 2011. The day it was observed here in Hood River I drove up in the forest to a vantage point I knew would be ideal. The following day the County and Forest Service locked up the forest roads around the mountain

. Last summer I hiked through the area and the new trees are almost 10' tall already. It's incredible how quickly the forest can heal.
