Continued…. A higher water level would have enabled the deer to swim across to a park. The deer was certainly struggling but did get across to the woods. I had enough time to retrieve a camera from the house and get several frames. THE QUESTION: Is this image too controversial for mainstream publications? It shows a deer in crisis but this is nature. The deer, covered in mud, did make it to safety.
 
I wouldn’t say it is too controversial. Fact is it probably wasn’t his first rodeo crossing that muddy area. As for publications, typically what i see published in the outdoor press and hunting magazines are the pristine big bucks solitary out in a field or surrounded by their harem of does during the rut. You have a good story to go with it so who knows?
