My backyard barred owl. This is one of a breeding pair that have been hanging out for months. I live on the edge of a large metropolitan area and the house backs up to a wooded park. I’m still surprised that we get owls hanging out every year.

So cool. Good for you. We have Western Screech owls. They only come out after dark, sing their song a lot, and for the life of me, I can't find their nest in the cottonwoods.

Got two words, "love owls"..

So cool. Good for you. We have Western Screech owls. They only come out after dark, sing their song a lot, and for the life of me, I can't find their nest in the cottonwoods.

We had Screech owl for several years but the Barred owl pushed them out.

Our barred owls have gotten very active again over the last two weeks--we had at least one nesting couple last year--and I found my first roost site today just two houses down! Exciting!
