I see all the threads about the variety of setups with QD connectors, using plates, direct on camera or feet, etc. I just thought I should show how my simple setup works for me. Others may have different needs. My setup works fine for hiking and general walking and shooting. I add a waist pack to carry an extra battery, my 1.4 converter, memory card, and small stuff like wipes. I can hang my Bogen monopod or a tripod on that waist pack's strap when need be.
I use a Cotton Cameraa Strap attached directly to the Z180-600 lugs. The way it hangs allows me to keep it on my hip and usually rest my hand on the foot anyway. At that angle I don't think my Z8 body suffers any undo strain. I average 3-4 miles on most of my trips. I feel it's secure.
Best to All,
Vinny
