NANPA Photographer's equipment insurance

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Do you know if NANPA covers loss for example if the camera/lens decides to go for a swim in a lake?
It covers everything including dropping your camera (into a lake or not) with the exception of 'mysterious disappearance'. It has a $250 deductible per occurrence and unscheduled protection for items under $500 but you individually declare items worth $500 or more. The premiums are based on the total amount insured.

My only claim was regarding a 600mm lens and D2X camera body that hit the deck after the dreaded collapsing tripod leg and they covered both items without any problems.

There was a huge controversy with NANPA last year where the board did a secret merger with ASMP, in spite of protests from prominent members (led by Art Morris) who wanted the membership to vote on it. I think a lot of members are leaving. Whether or not this affects their insurance program, I cannot say.

PPA also has an insurance program that I believe covers both equipment and liability (if you shoot assignments or lead photo workshops). However that membership is more expensive.
