Ontario is currently under a strict lockdown to curb Covid spread, to the point that one should not leave the house unless for necessary reasons. This has me reluctant to go out and shoot wildlife in the neighborhood. it's also unpleasantly chilly outside. I decided to bring the birds that frequent the feeder closer to the kitchen so I hung a seedball just above the deck railing outside. I also placed a birch log flat on top of the deck railing for something more natural-looking for the little ones to perch on. Then after some judicious cleaning of the sliding glass door I set up the tripod with camera at the kitchen table. This enables me to shoot while seated on a chair while also keeping the sliding glass door closed. It's a real cold, freezing air that comes in if I shoot through an open door. The sun passes behind the house from east to west every day (house is north facing) so the deck is in the shade the entire day.

Wind gusts turned into a bad hair day for this Chickadee.

While I was shooting these I heard the cry of a Red-tailed hawk. I opened the back door and looked outside. There were not one, not two, but three hawks circling above, almost like an aerial ballet. I've never in seven years of living here seen more than one of these outside at a time.
