If you are a Mac user and want a 5K alternative to the overpriced Apple Display, ASUS just released a 27 inch 5K ($800) and BenQ has one coming soon with Thunderbolt 4. And if you want the Apple monitor it is $300 off on Amazon.

I don't have anything 5k yet then again I have nothing that creates 5k so no loss.

Just as a personal concern I would be just a litle afraid of 5K because it could get passed by for 8K because the technology has advanced so much.

But 5k would still be really cool to have on my desk.

But I live a happy 4k life using a ASUS ProArt OLED PA32DC and BenQ EX480UZ OLED displays. From what you posted and what I already know about the PRO Art line your recommendtions are relly strong.

I run both displays off of an ASUS PROART Rygen Gen 5 PCI mobo with a 4090 graphics adapter and older gen 4 ASUS gen 4 mobo also with a 4090 for editing and tethering.

The ASUS display is pricey but worth it if one is into serious editing and wants a self calibrating professional monitor. I won't bother telling you about it but instead with just post the info for anyone interested in either monitor. They are both exceptionally nice and the BenQ is amazingly low priced for an outstanding 48 inch oled screen.

Almost forgot. The
BenQ is also a great gaming monitor and video on it is unbelieveable.

I’ve used the LG FinePix for some time. It’s a great 5K monitor. There’s a Dell one out there. It’s debatable how “overpriced” the Apple one is. That’s for individual estimations. In any case I don’t see 8k happening any time soon. It’s already difficult to make quality 5K and having enough power to properly drive it. There is a reason why 4K has been most popular. Eventually, for sure, 8K will happen. But most content and such will be uprezzed just as it is for 4K.
