Has anyone updated the new Firmware for the D500?
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).
that's the oneWhich version? I looked at the update released this month (12/2024), going from 1.31 to 1.40, and there doesn't seem to be much there at first glance.
If that's all of it, I'll pass on this one.
We will never know for certain, but probably not. My personal philosophy is that unless the firmware upgrade solves a critical issue that needs to be addressed immediately, I prefer not to be on the bleeding edge of upgrades. But if a release has been well vetted, then I'll do the update in case there are silent improvements, even if it is not needed.I remember someone mentioned in another thread about firmware that Nikon sometimes includes subtle performance improvements in the updates. Is everything they add always listed in the description?
In that case, we'll probably never know, since most everyone is shooting ML now, with virtually no feedback on any board for the D500. I will probably install it on the off chance there is some other improvement in there. Seems a lot of effort for a default title change. We will never know for certain, but probably not. Understood. I still have a D500, but do not use it as much as I used to now that I have a Z6iii. I'll probably do the FW update at some point soon, but am not expecting to see any changes.
