This (I think) is a followup to the recent 35mm f1.4. Both are non-S lenses that are attractively priced to compete with the S line f1.8 versions, but with a faster aperture. Mirrorless lenses are so inherently sharp now that I think a lot of us would be comfortable using a non-S. As someone who is not rich by American standards (but filthy rich compared to most of the world's population), I hope this trend of affordable, fast aperture lenses continues.
