Nikon 100-400 dropped in lake (camera was not on)

I dropped my Nikon Z6ii with Nikon 100-400 in 4 ft of fresh water and immediately fished it out. Too late, of course. Got the battery and CFexpress card work.
I'm bought some large silica packs and have had the camera and lens in a closed bag for 3 months. Since the camera was turned off, I have some hope, but not a lot. My motto is: low expectations!
My queston is: if I put the 100-400mm on my replacemnt Nikon Z6iii, will I risk damaging the camera through the lens' contacts since it may still have water in it?

I don't think so, but I thought it would be wise to ask.

Thanks,
Brien

well, the lens could still be dead. I think the odds of it frying the camera are low, but something could still go wrong with it and cause problems. Best case, it doesn't work. Probable worst case, the contacts cause weird feedback and damage the contacts on the camera too. I don't think there's a danger of current flowing back into the camera from the lens (at high enough levels to fry anything), but without knowing more, I honestly don't know that I'd have risked it, and just sent the lens to nikon to get checked over.
