Nikon 600 f4 tc focus motor noise

Hi Everyone. quick question.

When walking around with my 600 f4 tc and camera powered off I notice a sound that sounds like something internal moving. To me it sounds (pretty quiet) and feels like one of the focus elements moving back and forth. The thing is I didn't notice it when I first started using the lens, but that might have been just because I was out in the elements with ambient noise all around. Everything seems to work fine so just asking if you have the 600f4 tc can you hear/feel the elements moving back and forth as you move the lens around when camera is switched off.

It’s probably the VR mechanism in the lens. It’s a common phenomenon with telephoto lenses.

Mine does this too and it is normal. I think it is related to the auto focus mechanism. It uses a magnet. When power is off, so is the magnet.

Hello dear BCG forum members, i just noticed that i can hear a noice inside my Z 2,8/400mm when turned upside down as if a element of the lens is moving. This only happens when the lens is not attached to the camera. If attached you don't hear anything. My idea is that this could be the VR...

I Have the 600 tc and I did not notice any noise, maybe because there is always some kind of noise around. Good to know, I will try to check that next time I am shooting with it.
