No offence but I believe the bird in the picture is a snowy egret. You can remember how to tell that by remembering that Snow White had GOLDEN SLIPPERS.

Very nice photo and a great example of the rule of thirds too. Well done. I have the same lens on my D810 and have taken many photos of this kind of bird. They are plentiful where I live and I really like the color in the bird's feet.

Thank you all. Dave - it was super hot at Lake Conroe in Texas. Not many birds out and about. We saw two eagles, some herons, but mostly one or two cattle herons each day. Just tossed the camera and lens on a monopod and followed this guy around. Watched him jump down off the sea wall. Will post some more later, but these guys are always fun to capture.
