Dear folks, I am Mark from Singapore. I have a question regarding the Nikon D6. I’m currently working together with Nikon Singapore to investigate an issue many users are facing. Nikon Singapore is unable to answer having investigated half a dozen 600mm F4 E lenses paired with about 4 or 5 different Nikon D6 bodies. When using AFC mode and putting the focus point on a target 5-7m away, when the shutter is half pressed and the focus point is moved off the target aiming at infinity or a distance more than 7m, the AFC mode does not try to hunt for focus, but instead the focus keeps locked onto the original subject. This doesn’t change at all no matter what speed I select blocked shot af response. Isn’t AFC mode supposed to focus constantly? This is not the case when Nikon D6 is paired with 300mm f2.8 or 400mm f2.8 G. We have not tried the D6 with the 400mm f2.8 E Fl. However, the the Nikon 600mm F4 E FL is paired with a D850, or even a very old camera like the D2H, the AFC mode will continue to adjust focus to wherever the target is. This Nikon D6 issue with the 600mm Fl seems to only occur when the target is switched from a mid range 5-7m (for example a tree 5m) to the background(10m to infinity), the camera with this lens combo does not adjust for focus under AFC mode with the shutter is half pressed. It says locked on the target similar to AFS mode. If the target is switched between 2 subjects of similar distance, it will continue to track for new focus. Your help is greatly appreciated.
