The new 100-400mm is a S lens. The projected 200-600mm is not. Couldn't find much that describes the difference between S and non-S other than S is higher quality. Anyone with info that can clarify the difference in IQ? I'm sure that S really stands for $. But would a 200-600mm Z mount be enough of a step up from either the Sigma or Tamron 150-600? Or are we all just guessing right now?

Now that you mention it, I think the proper spelling of any of them is len$. However, I have no idea about all of the differences between S-Series and F-Mount Nikon/Nikkor lenses, other than the actual lens mount is considerably larger on the S-Series and the S-series is optically designed for a shorter distance between the mount and sensor planes.
