When I dropped my Nikon Z6ii into 4 ft of fresh lake water, my guide said that the only thing I might recover was the CF Express card. She was wrong! I was able to recover the battery, the CF Express card with all images, and the Nikon Z6iii. The attached Nikon 100-400mm could not be saved.
I bought $15 worth of large silica gel packs from Amazon and put the camera in a sealed waterproof bag for, count'em, 5 months. I really had no hope but thought it might be worth a try.
I think the reason it worked was that the camera was not turned on when it fell into fresh water. I immediately recovered it and that probably helped.
In any case, I thought someone out there might find this info useful.
