Nikon Z6iii - Custom User Settings

A question and a comment

1. Is it correct that if you save a set of customer parameters say under U1, that if you want to update one of the parameters, you need to start from scratch and cannot just make the one change?

2. Wouldn't it make sense for Nikon to have a configurable computer application, in which you could make all your custom settings on the computer, and then upload that file with those setting to your camera. That would be much easier than doing it on the camera.

RE #1. While you have U1 selected, make the change(s) and then go to MENU > SET UP MENU > Save User Settings, and save the U1 setting. That should work.

RE #2. For sure your suggestion would be useful. In fact, it's alway been a source of frustration that Nikon, while giving us these state-of-the-art, high-tech cameras and lenses, is so archaic with regard to computer user technology.

I am following the development of Reiken FoCal Snapshot. It gets better with each release. It is not compatible with the Z6iii yet, but should be soon. The app can run on a PC or a mobile device. It has great potential.

I’m hoping that the new Nikon Imaging Cloud app will eventually provide for saving camera settings to the cloud beyond picture controls. And if it provided for editing settings from the app, that’d be even better.
