Nikon Z7ii Live Viewfinder Exposure not matching image exposure

I just purchased a used Nikon Z7ii. I already have a Z8 and am very happy with it. On my Z8, the viewfinder brightness matches the image brightness that I will get when I press the shutter. With the Z7ii it does not. The viewfinder exposure on the Z7ii appears to deliver the brightness of a neutral exposure. It's acting more like a dslr. Is there a setting to allow the viewfinder brightness to match the actual exposure?

It does work in auto modes, or else it'd be useless. If you're saying that you're changing a setting (eg shutter speed) and you don't see a change in an auto mode...that's expected, because you're allowing the camera to push it to a neutral exposure. If you dial exposure comp it'll change.

No. What I'm saying is that in an auto mode, when the image is under exposed, for example, the viewfinder does not go darker. The exposure indicator at the bottom of the screen shows under exposed, but the screen does not go darker. In Manual mode, when the image is under exposed, the viewfinder goes darker.

Yes, my Z8 does not have this problem. The image on the viewfinder is nearly exactly what the image will be when I press the shutter....regardless of the exposure indicator. There may be another setting.

Make sure Starlight View is disabled as that throws a wrench in viewfinder brightness and creates other issues like disabling the viewfinder histogram.
