Since the Covid lockdown and restrictions I found one of the best times to shoot was at night. It took a little while to learn the new techniques which is always a good thing. Once I got going I found it very addictive and you see many things that most other people probably never will.

A nikon D850 with 300PF f4 and SB700 flash mounted on a high bracket to help avoid red eye. I also have a torch attached to the bracket as a focus light.

No tripod all handheld. With the setup shown above. Shutter speed 1/250 Aperture between f4 and 5.6 depending on the shot and iso around 320ish again depending.

Not on any of these shots. I have it on there permanently in case it’s needed. But I find if I’m careful and quiet I can get quite close to a lot of our nocturnal animals and birds.
