Beautiful catch. Nice colors on the wings. And if I catch the SOB banging on my chimney cap again....

I love flickers, and this one is quite beautiful with lots of orange coloring, but they do tend to wreak havoc during mating season when they want to hammer away at anything that makes noise, including our metal chimney cap.

What a find Bill, and what a super image! A friend of mine went all the way to Minnesota to find these little owls.

I hear ya Ken. I've had to repair holes in my house they've made.
I find those little buggers hard to catch mid-flight! Love it.
Thanks so much
Wow. What a beautiful rooster looking bird! Lots of color!

Nice photo.
They hide the orange well until they're in flight.

Great capture! I am forever attempting to get an inflight shot of one of these guys. That's when I can see their magnificent orange and black wing and tail feathers. They are SO shy it's a real challenge but I keep trying.

Get one of these and put it next to the chimney.

sure, if you ever need it, that’s the best one. The cheaper one does not hold up well in the wind and the WCS brand is over engineered. It does not need solid angle iron to hang a few ounces of aluminum, lol
they usually work pretty good.

They are skidish for sure. I've caught them in flight a few times but this is probably the best one.
Red shafted, so very cool. Great shot.
Thanks so much!
