On the day after Christmas, I spotted a harrier flying around and saw it land on a sign in the middle of a meadow that had trails intersecting it. I approached the harrier slowly as not to alarm it, but before I was ready to shoot a jogger startled it, after which it began flying around. It took me several seconds to get a focus lock and these are some of the photographs that came from that encounter.
Nikon Z8, Nikon Z 800mm f6.3, f6.3, 1/3200, ISO 720 - all photos
The harrier begins a dive in the first photo and in the second photo begins to pull out of the dive and then flies parallel to the meadow again.
