Dec. 2023 -- There were 3 other birder/ photographers present. Photogenic owls in general tend to get harassed and subject to unethical behaviour at times, so are considered "sensitive species". But we did not chase or harass the bird, make noises, or bait it etc. it seemed quite comfortable with us being there, and using telephoto lenses from a respectable distance. We did not publicize its location or other details. The local property owner talked to us and was very interested in the bird, where it had come from, what it was doing etc. Here are 3 photos of it watching me, flying down to catch a vole, and then with the vole ready to eat. It ate the vole and continued to sit up on the wire looking around when we left. Info for non-birdy people- it's an owl that looks like hawk, not the other way round, it's rare in NS, but lives in the boreal forest, and a few show up farther south in winter. Here it's looking around, flying down to catch a vole, then getting ready for lunch. TfL.
