Northern Shoveler

Last saturday I was so lucky to see and photograph a northern shoveler for the first time. This is a rare bird in my parts and when a sighting was reported a friend and I took a two hour drive to se if we could get some images of this bird.

The light was quite low this time of year here in the midwest part of Norway, but I think I made the best of the limited light we had this day

This series appeals a lot to me. I like the low level of perspective that brings the subject even closer to me than it probably was in reality.
Based on EXIFs it looks for me that you know exactly how to manage low light together with subject motion.

Thank you! Yes, I always try to get as low as possible and this time I was almost dipping my lens in the water

Very nice shots. I also love that this duck was cool with you being close enough to shoot it at 300mm, where I live shovelers (and most other ducks) are very skittish!

Thank you! Yeah, usually the ducks are quite skittish around here also, but this one was quity trustful.
