The other night we had a three inch snowfall so I figured the days of taking the macro lens out were basically done for the year. Wrong!!! Beneath the bark of a piece of firewood was a LARGE wolf spider, easily more than two inches from the tip of a front leg to the tip of a rearmost leg and a hairy one it was as well --

Quite true, we always have a few spiders in the house, along with silverfish and a few insects on houseplants.
