Back in ancient times (2007) my wife, daughter and I went on a short vacation to Northern Wisconsin in mid-October. At that time, I was shooting the Nikon E-5200 5mp P&S while our daughter, then a pro jewelry photographer, was shooting the much more sophisticated Nikon D50. While, as a whole, she had more quality keepers, I did get a few good ones in there.
This is Big Manitou Falls in NW Wisconsin on the Black River in Douglas County. The falls is the tallest in Wisconsin at 165 feet and eventually empties into Lake Superior. The Coca-Cola color to the water is natural from the tamarack trees the are all around the area and cause many people to question the water quality, which is actually pretty good. Here are a couple of shots I captured with my little P&S, which wasnot wide enough to get the whole drop in the shot. Shot one is the falls and the others are some small rapids above the falls.
