Went out on a boat yesterday, inspired to see some Orcas in their natural habitat after the heartbreaking news Tokitae/Toki (Sk’aliCh’elh-tenaut) had died in captivity as arrangements were being made to have her transported to a pen in Puget Sound.
Tokitae was captured with six other Orcas in 1970 in the waters off Washington state, and lived more than 50 years in captivity.
The seal image is not for the faint of heart. Unfortunately our boat needed to head back in just after they started to get frisky as Orcas often do after a successful hunt. I missed much of the breaching and activity you dream off.
