Gordon--thanks for your comment. The mist is actually steam, as the discharging groundwater temperature is reported to be about 70°C in this part of the terrace system at Mammoth.

Karm, Kathy, Yezdi, and Dave--thanks for your comments. Photoshop really worked well on this conversion from the color image. I've printed it on Red River metallic paper and it really looks great.
