This photogenic bear apparently thought he was a model, walking up to the edge of his island right in front of our Zodiac to strike a pose as our cameras clicked away (except for the Z9s that don’t actually click)!

And you nailed it! Lovely DOF! Did the Z9 consistently lock on the eye? In Botswana, the Z9 preferred hippo ears to eyes! LOL!

I wouldn’t say the eye detection was perfect, but it was pretty good (although it did sometimes find the ear depending on subject orientation). Let’s say I found it to be “good enough.” I did on occasion switch to spot focus to move the focus point where I wanted it.
