Seems like my backyard is overrun with woodpeckers this year and the predominate one is the Pileated. I have them everyday taking turns at the suet with other woodpeckers. The Pileated will tolerate some birds and others it will chase off immediately. Interesting to watch how a Red Breasted Nuthatch will hold its own against the Pileated and others.

Very nice series! I like the one of him licking his chops too! It must have been good.

Beautiful pictures. We have several families that visit our feeders. It's neat to watch them bring the young ones. The red on the side of the head by the beak is a male the yellow a female.

Nice, I love these birds, but in m area they are difficult to find and even more difficult to photograph as they typically quickly fly away. Last year I did manage to find a nest and get some photos of them feeding the young.

Thanks for commenting. That's always fun and exciting when the adults bring the young to my backyard, the young ones really act goofy at times.
nice mix of male and female - super photos
Appreciate it Charles, thanks.

Thanks much Mark.
Nice set, Louie. Sounds like you've set up some effective feeders and are getting good results.
Thanks Dan, they do like something about my backyard.
