Pinpoint af

Sorry if this is a stupid ? But I cannot seem to find this option on my z6ii. It is ticked in the menu but when I select the i menu I can only choose between AFC single point and manual. I read through the section in Steve's book a couple of times ( page 138 ) and there is nothing there about how to find the option. I just assume that there should be an option there to select. Cheers Edward

Yes I have it in AFS sorry I forgot that in the original post. I select af in the i menu then then change it to AF-S and I only have 3 options AF-S AF-C MF so what am I doing wrong ?? Edward

Once you change to AFS you need to go into the focus area option and select pinpoint. There is a setting in custom controls (I think that’s where) that allows you to specify which AF are options are available. I think they’re all on by default but if it doesn’t show up in area mode select make sure it didn’t get disabled.

Focus modes (AF-S, Af-C, etc) and AF areas (Single, Dynamic, Pin, etc) are different. See page 79 of the mirrorless book, it'll give you three different ways to switch AF areas :)

I assigned my autofocus choices to FN2 on my Z6ii. Press the FN2 button, hold it and use the back dial to switch from AF-C to AF-S or Manual focus. Then I use the front dial to switch from pin-point to single, wide or large, etc. I don't know how you would do all that from the I-menu. You're going to have to consult the operator's manual.

I use my Movie Record button for the same (y)

OK folks cracked it now. I see what is what so to speak. I was thinking about it slightly differently than what it is. I am struggling a bit to love this z6ii. I loved my d500 the instant I picked that up. So glad I did not trade that in. I bought a z85 s lens when I bought this body instead of the kit lens. There are some things that impress me a lot with the z and some that bug me and make me hate it. It is not impossible that I might even take a hit and sell this back to the dealer but I resolved to give it till Easter to win me over. But thank you everyone very much for your help with this ??. There is such a lot of info in the book I can see me having to read it a number of times to get things like this to stick in my head. Now it is late and my bed is calling. Cheers Edward
