Thanks to Steven (sh1209) for providing the name.
Saw this critter about two years ago at the hide at Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. He was about half the current size. I have not been back for two years, but then he popped up again in August. I knew it was an escapee, a casualty of the animal pet trade, an an American, but no clue to its name.
I was shooting kingfishers when suddenly I spotted this yellow blob on the water at one of the perches. (S)he is quite a striking reptile. And naturally, I missed the falling of off the log as my eyes were on a KF at that moment.

Never mind the one that might have been. You nailed the composition in all (3), especially the first one to my eye. Very nice.

It looks like what we call a Red-eared Turtle in my area. I think that might just be another name for the Pond Slider, but I'm not an expert. Nice set of shots! :)

Thanks Woody. This what the net says: The red-eared slider is a subspecies of pond slider. A bright-red blotch may be seen on the head, like on this turtle. The pond turtle is native to the eastern United States.
I love photos that make common critters look special. Well done.
Thank you Dan, he really posed well for me.
You keep turning out winners Callie! Well done!
Thank you, Larry!
