Canoeing Pond River today in McLean County, Ky.....Red-tailed Hawk with prey. The tail-end view is all the hawk would give me as I paddled down the river. He kept flying off to land a little ways ahead of me, I would lose track of him and then I would see him fly off again and again. For this photo, he at least let me approach a little closer before flying off. I could tell he had some prey item with him, but did not know until I could get this image. When photographing from my canoe, I'll take what I can get and be happy.
